a love story rooted in scranton
Hanna and Patrick share a sweet and grounded love story. College sweethearts who spent their early days together exploring Scranton, they now live out their love story surrounded by deep family roots and cherished memories. With busy lives and a big wedding celebration coming up this summer in New York, they decided to do something small, personal, and deeply meaningful ahead of time: a local elopement with immediate family.
a sentimental ceremony in st. Gregory's
Set on a rainy March day, the ceremony took place at St. Gregory’s Church in Scranton, PA—the very same church the groom attended throughout his childhood. Despite the weather, the interior of the church radiated warmth, love, and joy. The couple chose this church for its deep family significance, and the intimate size of the event made every detail more meaningful. The presence of Patrick’s 90-something-year-old grandfather added an extra layer of emotion and history to the day. There wasn’t a dry eye in the pews as Hanna and Patrick exchanged vows surrounded by only their closest loved ones.
elopement style with classic style
Hanna wore a stunning white dress with long flouncy sleeves paired with a small, elegant headpiece that evoked a timeless, old Hollywood elegance. Patrick looked sharp in a classic grey suit that perfectly complemented his bride. Their family members dressed in relaxed-yet-polished outfits, like pant suits, sports coats, and simple dresses—emphasizing the casual yet chic vibe of this Scranton wedding.
There was no strict color palette, and no ornate décor—just raw, authentic moments full of meaning. The family gathered around the couple for a quiet moment of prayer during the ceremony, one of the most moving parts of the day.
post -ceremony joy: dinner & Ice cream
After the ceremony, the couple celebrated at Casa Bella, one of their favorite Italian restaurants in the area. Later, they treated themselves to a sweet bite at Manning’s Ice Cream—another Scranton staple that holds sentimental value for them. These simple yet intentional choices made the day feel deeply personal and memorable.
why they chose me
The Calveys' found me through a family connection—Patrick’s father is my fiancé’s godfather—and wanted to work with someone affordable and experienced in wedding photography in Scranton. Since their big wedding was still to come, they were looking for someone who could capture this special moment without breaking the bank.
I worked closely with Hanna to create a visual mood board that matched her love for classic, romantic imagery. To match the nostalgic tone of their day, I also shot a few film photos, which added an authentic, vintage feel to their collection. The bride absolutely loved how the photos turned out and told me:
“We absolutely love them!!! Thank you so much. You did an incredible job! We are both so happy with how they turned out.”
Whether you're planning a big celebration or a quiet, family-only elopement, I’d love to help you tell your story with timeless, emotive photography. Specializing in documentary-style wedding photography in Scranton, I capture the real moments that make your day uniquely yours.
